About Us
The story of Pintanna Oud began in 2009 when Deshabandu Kumar Dharmasena, a seasoned estate owner in Ratnapura, was introduced to a unique type of wood by a distinguished plantation owner from India. At that time, Mr. Dharmasena had already established a thriving estate cultivating Tea, Rubber, Cinnamon, and Pepper. Driven by curiosity and a passion for discovery, he and his family planted the seeds of this intriguing wood on their estate.
This marked the inception of the Pintanna Project—a pioneering effort to unlock the true value of this precious resource. Over the years, Mr. Dharmasena’s dedication to this venture led to extensive research and cultivation, setting the stage for a significant breakthrough in the world of Oud.
Our Journey
From 2009 to 2020, the Pintanna Estate evolved into a center for cultivating and researching this unique wood and Oud Oil. In 2020, Mr. Dharmasena achieved a major milestone by becoming Sri Lanka’s first legal exporter of this prized resource, establishing Pintanna Plantations (Pvt) Ltd. and the country’s first Oud Oil Distilling Factory. The journey continued in 2021 with the creation of Pintanna Oud (Pvt) Ltd., dedicated to exporting premium products globally.
Pintanna Estate
Located in Ayagama-Ratnapura, the Pintanna Estate spans over 300 acres. This expansive estate serves as a thriving hub for cultivating this unique wood and also supports the growth of Tea, Rubber, Cinnamon, and Pepper. Our dedication is evident in the cultivation of over 75,000 trees, underscoring our commitment to sustainable and high-quality production.
